Our Externship for Cultivating Emerging Leaders (EXCEL) is a voluntary, three-day immersive experience at AbbVie’s headquarters in Lake County, IL for second-year college students to explore diverse business areas, network with our teams and leaders, engage in professional development events and have an opportunity to interview for an AbbVie internship for the following summer.

The Aesthetics Leadership Program prepares you to be a future marketing leader by providing opportunities to work on critical areas of the aesthetics business. The program is three years long and consists of three 12-month rotations.

The Business Technology Solutions Development Program consists of three 8-month rotations over the course of two years. The program is intended to develop your technology and business problem solving skills, while gaining a deeper understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry and impact the lives of our patients.

Most of the assignments are in Lake County, IL, but there is potential for assignments on the West Coast and internationally depending on business needs.

Our Clinical Trial Operations Development Program consists of three one-year rotations designed to help you launch a dynamic career and gain meaningful experience in th execution and management of clinical trials. Your rotations will give you experience in clinical trials, project management and data analysis through projects at our headquarters and in the field.

Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, computer science, data science, engineering (biomedical, bioengineering or chemical), neuroscience, pharmaceutical sciences or statistics

The Commercial Leadership Program consists of two 18-month rotations in both Marketing and Market Access and one 12-month rotation in Sales.

The Finance Development Program consists of four 6-month rotations over two years to prepare you for financial management roles. You will gain experience by working cross-functionally in a matrixed environment, building your business acumen and participating in key training and mentoring sessions.

Who can apply:
Individuals with a MBA in business administration, health care, marketing or general management (A doctorate of pharmacy, masters of public health or master of health care administration dual degree is a plus)

Locations:
Most of the Global Market Access Program experience is based in Lake County, IL. However, global rotations require mobility to an AbbVie affiliate.

Over the course of three 12-month rotations, you will gain a depth of knowledge and experience with our global people-related processes, programs and initiatives. This program is crafted to help you develop strong human resources functional knowledge and leadership capabilities by working on a wide range of projects across multiple business units.
